  • ICMC Certification

Advocating for the Highest Safety Standards for Sodium Cyanide

The International Cyanide Management Code (ICMC) is a voluntary code developed to help the mining industry implement consistent standards related to the safe manufacture, transport and use of sodium cyanide.

Mine Certification

As a founding member and signatory of the ICMC, Cyanco helps its customers obtain and maintain their ICMC certification. Our qualification assistance begins with an ICMC Gap Analysis to ensure the highest safety standards for our customers’ employees, their communities and the environment.

Lowering Total Cost of Ownership

Cyanco works hard to ensure that our customers use our products responsibly and with due care. But the bottom line is important as well. Our Applied Technology Services group offers equipment and services to optimize cyanide use, helping customers improve their process efficiency and lower operating costs.

Optimize Leach Operations

Our team of chemists, engineers, and metallurgists work with mine staff to understand the ore characteristics, leach chemistry, and Au/Ag dissolution/extraction data and recommend improvements to the customer’s mineral recovery process. This will provide optimized conditions for sites to leach more efficiently.

Optimize Cyanide Addition & Control

By optimizing cyanide usage, Cyanco helps its customers reduce leaching costs, more efficiently treat effluents and improve metal recovery.

  • Detoxification

Detoxification

Once the cyanide molecules have done their job of separating the gold or silver from the ore, some level of residual cyanide will remain in the mine’s effluent and tailings. At Cyanco, we take a phased approach to detoxification, starting with initial test work to assess the most suitable process based on efficiency and costs. We then help customers design and implement an optimized treatment circuit and commission the start-up of the detoxification plant. Cyanco also provides long-term servicing of the treatment circuit and related equipment.

Cyanide/Effluent Detoxification

Cyanco can analyze a customer’s ore samples at our lab in Nevada by running leaching circuit optimization tests. For existing mines, we can imitate their leaching process in the lab, allowing for accurate testing of different detoxification methods. Based on those results, we create a full-scale circuit design using the most effective and economical solution, that best aligns with the mine’s leaching process. Once implemented at the customer site, reagent use should diminish, resulting in reduced waste management costs.

Metal Precipitation

Cyanco has extensive experience with the precipitation of heavy metals, such as copper, mercury and lead. Mine effluents often contain these metals, which may need to be removed prior to discharge into the environment. After a comprehensive assessment of a customer’s process, we will recommend the most efficient and cost-effective option to manage this serious hazard to human health, animals and ecological systems.
